Planning Storyboard for my Music Video
Storyboard
Scene 1: Margarita will be standing in the grass with a sad expression on her face. In this scene Margarita will be wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. This is to represent women who are afraid of wearing what they would like, for example baggy clothes.
Scene 2: Then, I will pass Margarita a skirt and she will hold it up in front of her pants. In the same scene she will proceed to throw the skirt on the floor. This will be to represent the lyrics in Pretty Girl when Clairo sings "I could be a pretty girl, I'll wear a skirt for you." To symbolize that to be pretty you do not have to dress how others would like you to.
Scene 3: In the next scene I appear lip-syncing the lyrics "I could be a pretty girl, shut up when you want me to." While I lip-sync Margarita will use her hand to make a "shut up" gesture as if she is trying to shut me up, representing society silencing others who want to do and be who they want.
Scene 4: In this scene I will shove Margarita's hand away. Symbolizing that I am confident and I'll do what I want.
Scene 5: For this scene, Margarita will be standing in front of a mirror while she looks at herself with a sad expression. At the end of this scene, her reflection will fade out. Sometimes when one might look at themselves in the mirror every once in a while and compare themselves to others, it can cause someone to feel discontent with their own looks.
Scene 6: Negative thoughts (words) will fade in, into the mirror, replacing Margarita's reflection. This demonstrates, as seen in the previous scene, how people tend to compare themselves to others and have negative thoughts. We decided to put these words into this scene to also represent what many have been called/told by others.
Scene 7: I will be running away from negative thoughts (words/phrases/statements) which will be edited into the video. Running away from these negative thoughts demonstrates how some people try to not get influenced by others' bad opinions about their looks, personality, or beliefs.
Scene 8: In this scene I will stop running and turn to face the camera with my hand over my mouth. On my hand there will be the word "beautiful" written on it. This is to show someone confronting their insecurities and learning to love themselves.
Scene 9: For the this scene, Margarita will appear in the same position as I was in the previous scene. She will put her hand over her mouth with the words "Love myself" written on it. This is also to show the process of finally accepting ourselves.
Scene 10: Next, I will be running towards positive and empowering words instead of negative ones. The words will be edited into the video as I chase after them. Representing ones journey into becoming confident and being comfortable in their own body.
Scene 11: Me and Margarita will grab some magazines with models that represent society and we will throw the magazines in the air to show that we are no longer enslaved by those beauty standards.
Scene 12: For the final scene, the camera will follow the magazines while in the air as a phrase appears. The phrase will be "Love Yourself" and that is where the music video will end.
