Editing my Cantu commercial
Editing process
Once I was done with filming I began editing. I began by collecting all of the clips that would be used in the commercial and made a quick plan of how I wanted to edit the commercial. I had to cut some of my clips to fit exactly 30 seconds all together. I used iMovie to edit my commercial. Once I was using iMovie, I put all of my clips together. I had an idea which was to add text onto my video instead of making a voiceover. To do this I used a picture and added black text over it before certain scenes. I used pic collage to make a picture and add text over it. The purpose of the text added through the commercial is to explain and convince the viewer to buying the product. First I made three of these pictures with text to go before the first clip that was filmed. Then I made another one to go before the seconds clip, and two more to go after. On the third clip, which was where I would finally introduce the Cantu cream, subject of the commercial I wanted to do something special with the clip. To create a bigger affect on the product but also to emphasize, I made a zoom out on that scene. While I was planning how I wanted to edit my video I thought of adding like a set of steps to show how easy it can be to get beautiful curls with the Cantu cream. So I added these steps onto the white picture and set it between the scenes were the person in the video was brushing her hair and applying the cream. Then, I used the clips I filmed of the closing and opening doors and connected them to make one scene. Finally I looked for the music to add. I wanted to add upbeat music that would catch the attention of the viewer. I picked a song that was a combination of drums, claps, and other instruments. I made sure to put the scenes at the right time to go with the music. At the end I made sure to check that everything was good and perfect.
