Production blog: recording the voiceovers
Today March 8, 2021, my partner and I met up with the actress playing Irene to record the voice overs needed for our opening sequence. Initially we had decided to record scenes 1, 2, 12, 13, 14, and 15 with the actor playing johnny but the meeting was rescheduled to March 12, 2021, to March 13, 2021. With our sudden change of plans, we had time to do other recordings needed with our actress Abi Fernandez. We had planned to record scene five and the voiceovers, but this did not workout very well. Due to the sudden change of plans, Abi had no time to cancel her other plans and we had to cut our meeting short to just record the voiceovers to provide our actress with a more flexible schedule. Abi was also feeling a little tired and decided she preferred that we just recorded the voiceovers and met up to record the scenes March 10 to March 15, 2021.
Before attending our meeting to film, my partner and I went shopping to buy masks and handsanitser. As our plan for health and safety had said, we prepared and made sure that we provided Abi and ourselves with protection. We practiced social distancing as well to prevent any of us risking ourselves to COVID-19.
We met with our actress, Abi, around 3:30 P.M. and prepared to start recording. To begin, we explained to Abi what we would be recording. I showed Abi her script and allowed her to look over it and study it. After she studied her script, my partner and I got ready to record her voiceovers. We explained to her how we wanted her to vocalize the phrases on her script. Once she was done practicing and knew how we wanted her to say her lines on the script we began recording. First we recorded the script for scene three, and then we recorded the script for scenes five, six, seven, and nine. The recording of Abi's voiceovers took about an hour. We recorded several times for each scene until we were satisfied with the result.
As of now the script, locations, nor the storyboard have changed. The only thing that has been modified is the schedule for filming.
Filming was fun and interesting, it was funny at first since Abi messed up her lines a couple of times but we were able to finish sucessfully. Next meeting we plan to meet up at the set location Pompano Community Park to film scenes three, six, seven, ten, and eleven. Lastly we will film scene five at my house and wrap up filming with our actress.
