Introduction to the music video project.
In the music video project I am working with my fellow classmate Margarita Ortuno Cruz. I chose to work with Margarita because she is very dedicated and responsible. Sometimes it is hard for me to start my work in time but Margarita has the energy to get me to do work and she is very smart. It is also very easy to discuss things with her since she will listen to my opinions so there are no arguments. Working with Margarita is also a very good decision because she always does an impeccable work on her projects. After looking into many songs of different genres we finally settled on one. The song we chose was Pretty Girl by Clairo. This song is about Clairo's own experience of feeling pressure of having to change to be the perfect pretty girl for her significant other. This song can be very relatable to many different women out in the world as we've all felt the pressure of having to change ourselves for other people. With Margarita, we both decided to give the message of women having pressure of following the beauty standards and feeling like we need to change for others to accept and like us. No matter the age, people always have that pressure and it can be hard to overcome that standard. Eventually many women are able to show otherwise and are able to create their own standards of being themselves and knowing their worth. At a very young age we tend to be put in front of media where we finally get to see what people expect others to look like. Sometimes those constructs do not matter because a person, in this case a woman/girl will be judged no matter what they do or what they look like. So many girls fall into a deep hole of wanting to look a certain way because society projects the beauty standard as something that needs to be followed. If you do not look the way people expect you to, they tell you, you will never receive love or you will never get a boyfriend or girlfriend when indeed that person should accept us exactly how we are, and if a girl even wants a significant other. My friends as well as myself has felt this pressure and it has affected me greatly. The beauty standard follows you even if you are older, it can affect any woman. Women should be embraced no matter what they look like because after all they are all very beautiful beings. We want to spread that message through our music video.
