What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? 

The titles that are displayed are the credits, and it shows who produced the movie. It included an introduction to the plot of the movie. After the introduction it presented the movies name. 

What images are prioritized in the opening sequences? 

At the beginning it showed the 20th Century FOX logo. During the introduction, there was a black background with stars. 

What connotations do these images carry? 

The connotation behind the 20th Century FOX logo was to give credit to the original distributor for Star Wars. The connotation behind the black background with stars was to represent the galaxy, which is the setting of the movie. 

How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? 

The film established itself as a sci-fi film by showing the galaxy background. The galaxy background has to do with space and science, which gives the feeling science fiction. The title of the movie also shows science fiction because it lets us know there will be wars in space, which further tells that there are further civilizations in space. 

What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? 

The music in the opening sequence is played by an orchestra, and it gives the feeling of fantasy. The orchestras sound later became a hit, and it became known as representation of Star Wars. Compared to other movies, the opening sequence for Star Wars introduced the beginning of the plot. In the opening sequence, it lets us know that they are in a period of civil war. It introduced us to some characters in the story like Galactic empire, and Princess Leia. It overall achieved its goal to catch the attention of the audience since it now has a huge franchise. 

How has technology been used effectively? 

The opening sequence used these types of technique: editing, angles, and transitions. They used an opening crawl, which can be seen in every introduction of the Star Wars films. The crawl text describes the backstory and the context of the film then, it moves up further in the scene with an apparent effect of disappearing in the distance. The crawl text is positioned in a low angle. There are multiple fade-in and fade-out transitions with the inclusion of a zoom-out.

Final task: Filming and editing process

As of recently, my partner and I have to decided to start our filming process on March 8, 2021. Unfortunately we could not begin filming before due to serveral reasons. Our actress playing Irene, is out of town and will be arriving March 6, 2021, which is the major reason of why we decided to begin on March 8. The actor playing Johnny also could not film earlier because he had plans involving school homework, studying for several tests and work. My partner and I looked out for our actors and decided to begin filming on a day everybody would be available.  We finished all of our planning and research and now we will prepare for filming. As of now, we have not changed or added new locations for our opening sequence. We have set all of our plans for our settings and when we will go to our assigned locations. Genre Research: The Giver

What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? Another movie we will use to base our final task on is The Giver.  The Giver is a science fiction movie which is based on a novel. The setting of  The Giver was in an isolated piece of land broken off and disconnected from the rest of the world. This set up the plot of the story of the film.  In the movie they use a lot of different filming techniques to express the different emotions throughout the film.  Since the movie is about "The receiver of memories" they use zooms, close-ups, establishing shots, track, mid-shots, low and high angles and many more to show the emotions of the characters in the story.
