AICE Media Studies

This is my CCR following my final task called three days. This project showed me a lot of new things and I will keep it with me forever. I hope to do similar future projects! Question 1:  How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Question 2: How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? Question  3; How did your production skills develop throughout this project? Question 4: How did you integrate technologies in this project?

I am so happy and excited to present my final task completed by me and my partner Margarita. After filming and editing I have learned so much about films and editing techniques which can be used for any type of movie. Planning this project carefully with my partner also taught me about teamwork and how great two minds can work together. I am very thankful for my partner's work and the actors as well, I am so happy to have worked with them. I hope anybody who watches my opening sequence enjoys it!

On March 6, 2021, my partner and I began the editing process for our final task. To edit, we used After Effects CC 2020. On March 6, 2021 I finished filming all of the required scenes so we were ready to edit. My partner and I had planned to meet up to edit, however, that was not possible because of other scheduling difficulties so we decided that my partner, Margarita would entirely edit the opening sequence while I would be able to suggest and give ideas for editng and approve of my partner's editing ideas. Prior to filming, we had already disscussed a lot of our editing ideas so we used that planning as a guide of what we would include through editing.  Before beginning, I first collected all of the audios I recorded. I made sure to cut some of the audios to the correct length since some were really long audios of the actress repeating her script for the scene. On April 6, 2021, my partner and I recorded the last scenes with the actress playing Irene. We began by recording a voiceover which would be edited into the last scene and re-recorded scene seven. After recording those scenes we proceeded to record scene eleven. We decided to do scene eleven before scene ten since it required less preparing. For this scene we needed Irene to cry and make it seem as if she was “shedding her last tear” as she died. We allowed the actress to prepare. It was easier since the actress could fake cry so she began crying and we recorded. This took us a couple of tries but finally we got the perfect result.  Next we recorded scene ten which is the last scene of the vision. In this scene Irene is on the floor bleeding, and dying. For this scene we used the fake blood and I applied it to her neck. Once we finished applying the fake blood, I went on with the actress and positioned her on the floor. On April 6, 2021, my partner and I met up to record the last scenes for our opening sequence. After school, we decided to meet up for the last time with the actress playing Irene. My partner, Margarita, had her parents drive her to the actresses house and I walked to the actresses house. Once we got to her house we put our masks on because of COVID-19 and we began right away. We sat down with the actress and explained to her the last scenes we needed to record. I showed the actress the storyboard and explained the scenes. Margarita and I both decided to take turns recording these last scenes. We needed to record scenes nine, ten, eleven, and re-record scene seven, and a voiceover. We recorded scenes seven, ten, and eleven only with the actress since scene nine does not require her presence.  While the actresses practice her acting, we set up our setting and planned how we would proceed recording. On April 5, 2021, I decided to film the calender scene separately while my partner prepared for other filming. I decided to film part of the scene for scene thirteen at my house since this scene does not require any of the actors to be present. In this part of the scene, a date shows up regarding the day of which Irene will die. From the time set in the opening sequence, in three days, Irene will go through her death. In order to prepare, after school I asked my parents to take me to the store to buy a calender. Once we bought the calender, I came home and prepared to record. I had picked a blue calender to record the scene with big numbers so that when I recorded the scene, it would appear as clear as water. Sadly, while recording I realized that my camera was not focusing on the numbers and it seemed blurry. On March 29 my partner, Margarita, and I decided to continue filming after school. We met up with the actress playing Irene as soon as school ended so we would have more time to film. Margarita had her parents drive her to the actresses house and I walked to the actresses house with the company of my mom. Initially we had planned to film at the pompano community park but this was not possible since the actress was left home alone to take care of her little sister so we decided to film in her backyard. We made sure to clean up the place where we would film.  Once we arrived we wore our masks and put on hand sanitizer to follow guidelines regarding safety for COVID-19. Over spring break my partner and I decided to film with the actor playing Johnny. On March 24, we filmed scenes which only required the actor to be present. We decided to meet all up on this day to prevent anymore schedule changes since the actor sometimes can’t meet up because of his job. Earlier this week, the actor told us we could not record in his room so we had to change the setting to my partners parents bedroom. My partner and I decided to record scenes one, two, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen.  As the one in charge of the costumes for our opening sequence project, I told the actor to wear his comfortable clothing before coming since he would be filmed sleeping. Once the actor arrived to my partners house and I drove to her house, we began. First, my partner and I settled in her parents bedroom and we prepared the props. I helped prepare the setting and the bed which the actor would use. My partner and I showed the actor the scripts and let the actor go over it. We...

After rescheduling a couple of times, my partner and I were finally able to film some more scenes with the actress playing Irene. Today, we were all available to film and so we decided to meet up. My partner, Margarita, was driven by her parents to the actresses house which is were we decided to film; to relate with the setting of the scene. I walked to the actress's house since she only lives a couple houses away. Once we had all arrived we put on masks due to COVID-19, except the actress and she led us to her room. My partner and I got comfortable and began to explain to the actress what we had initially planned for the scene we would film. We decided to record scene five only and record some of the voiceover's again. In order to prepare, we went over the script once again with the actress and allowed her to look over it. Today on March 15, 2021, my partner and I decided to film some scenes for our opening seqeunce. In order to film our scenes we needed to go to Lions park in Coral Springs. We discussed the day earlier and decided it would be easier to proceed and record scenes four and eight since they do not require any actors to be present. My partner, Margarita, and her family picked me up and gave us a ride to the park. Before arriving to the park, we all put on our masks to follow guidelines of safety because of COVID-19.  The scenes we decided to record were scenes four and eight which are part of the vision scenes. Recording outside was best for everyone so we could practice social distancing and so we decided the setting for these scenes would be a park. Today, my partner and I focused on preparing our props for filming next week and recorded more sounds. After a long day at school, Margarita and I went out to shop for some props needed in our opening sequence. We decided to go to party city to buy some fake blood. We need this for a scene in our opening sequence. This scene is planned to be recorded next week so we decided to prepare our props ahead of time. Once we finished preparing the props, we went our separate ways home. I had originally planned to record more scenes today with the actress playing Irene, but she had to reschedule to March 14, 2021. On that day I plan on recording two of the voiceovers again since I realized there is background voices. I also plan on filming scene five. Today March 8, 2021, my partner and I met up with the actress playing Irene to record the voice overs needed for our opening sequence. Initially we had decided to record scenes 1, 2, 12, 13, 14, and 15 with the actor playing johnny but the meeting was rescheduled to March 12, 2021, to March 13, 2021. With our sudden change of plans, we had time to do other recordings needed with our actress Abi Fernandez. We had planned to record scene five and the voiceovers, but this did not workout very well. Due to the sudden change of plans, Abi had no time to cancel her other plans and we had to cut our meeting short to just record the voiceovers to provide our actress with a more flexible schedule. Abi was also feeling a little tired and decided she preferred that we just recorded the voiceovers and met up to record the scenes March 10 to March 15, 2021. As of recently, my partner and I have to decided to start our filming process on March 8, 2021. Unfortunately we could not begin filming before due to serveral reasons. Our actress playing Irene, is out of town and will be arriving March 6, 2021, which is the major reason of why we decided to begin on March 8. The actor playing Johnny also could not film earlier because he had plans involving school homework, studying for several tests and work. My partner and I looked out for our actors and decided to begin filming on a day everybody would be available.  We finished all of our planning and research and now we will prepare for filming. As of now, we have not changed or added new locations for our opening sequence. We have set all of our plans for our settings and when we will go to our assigned locations. We divided our story board into 60 slides showing every moment that we will include in our opening sequence. We broke down our 15 scenes through the CAMS, CLAMPS, and EDITING. We elaborated as much as we could in our drawings to depict the real plan of what the scenes will look. We enjoyed drawing all of our ideas down and it helped us to imagine the real process of filming and editing. We also learned the importance of planning our scenes in order to film at greater ease. 

  The opening credits will show up in the font Apollo. An example of the font will be provided below.  Schedule 3/8/2021 - The filming begins this day. On March 8, 2021, we will film scenes one, two, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen. We will only film these scenes these days because the setting is the same, and these scenes are only require the actor playing Johnny. On this day, we will also record the voice overs needed.  3/10/2021 - On this day, we will record the remaining scenes, which are three through eleven. We will also record the voice overs that occur in those scenes. These scenes are going to be recorded in a different days because we have different settings.  3/12/2021 to 3/14/2021- We will commence the editing on March 12, 2021. We will edit our opening sequence in After Effect CC 2017.
